Cardio oncology

Cardio oncology is cardiac care for patients with cancer. Heart diseases and cancer are common problems and it often happens that an oncological patient also has or develops a cardiovascular disease. In these situations it is necessary to use cardiological treatment combined with anticancer therapy. The solution that facilitates the treatment in that case is cardio oncology - a relatively new medicine branch for those patients who suffering from cardiovascular disease require also specialized care and individual oncological treatment. In cardio oncology, cardiologists support oncologist in proper classification of the patients with cardiovascular diseases for surgical treatment and chemotherapy. Cardio oncology leads to a better cooperation of doctors in these two fields and to patients, offering optimal therapy customised to their needs.
