ECZ Innovation
conducts activities in implementing and providing patients with innovative therapies that can increase the chances of cancer treatment and improve the quality and the comfort of life, with particular emphasis on the reduction or complete elimination of pain, due to the involvement and support of the Institute for Diagnosis and Treatment of Pain.
This new initiative has been created and is based on years of experience and achievements of the European Health Centre Otwock (ECZ Otwock), The Fryderyk Chopin Hospital. The hospital is equipped with the latest generation and highest quality diagnostic equipment, such as: 3 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), 128 slice Computed Tomography (MSCT), Digital Mammography with Tomosynthesis, Digital X-ray with Digital Diagnostic Auto Image Stitching, modern ultrasound machine, and diagnostic cardiology equipment.
ECZ Otwock has been recognized as the International Reference Centre by The Philips company which provides access to the world's latest technology in medicine.
The Department of Diagnostic Imaging at the Hospital led by MD, PhD. Łukasz Kownacki, offers patients a diagnosis using the latest methods of imaging for all parts of the body, including cardiac MR, 3D BRAIN VIEW of the brain and whole body screening technology -Whole Body 3T MR.

Department of Clinical Oncology and Oncological Surgery - these departments provide comprehensive care to patients with cancer, including chemotherapeutic treatment. The Chairman of the Scientific Council at ECZ Otwock is Associated Professor, MD Cezary Szczylik an outstanding oncologist and an authority in the field of oncology, the founder and president of the Foundation for Experimental and Clinical Oncology, a co-founder of the Study Center of Molecular Medicine, , and a member of many scientific societies and organizations.
Department of Urology with accreditation of the Ministry of Health and the European Board of Urology (EBU) run for many years by Associate Professor, MD Andrzej Borówka (since 1988 until 2000, Chairman of the Warsaw branch of the Polish Society of Urology, Chairman of the Polish Society of Urology since 2000 until 2008, National Consultant in Urology from 1992 to 2011) and since September 2015 headed by MD PhD Jakub Dobruch. This department has a particular interest in the field of oncological urological surgery, primarily with the use of laparoscopic techniques.
Department of Cardioangiology Clinic (Cardiovascular Clinic and Pulmonary Thromboembolic Diseases) under the guidance of Associate Professor, MD Adam Torbicki (Vice-President of the European Society of Cardiology, Coordinator for the guidelines for the diagnostics of the treatment of acute pulmonary embolism at European Society of Cardiology announced in the year 2000 and then in 2008, co-author of the European guidelines for pulmonary arterial hypertension (2004 and 2009), one of the initiators of the programs in surgical treatment of thromboembolic and arterial pulmonary hypertension pharmacotherapy in the country, Coordinator of Polish registries of pulmonary embolism and pulmonary hypertension ZATPOL and PHPOL, Chairman of the Working Group of the Pulmonary Circulation at European Society of Cardiology (1992 -1994 and 2004 - 2006), President of the Polish Cardiac Society in 2004 - 2007).
The Cardioangiology Clinic Otwock is the largest Polish centre for diagnosis and management of pulmonary hypertension and member of European Reference Networks (ERNs) for rare and complex diseases (ERN-Lung). It fulfills all formal criteria of an PH expert centre as required by European Society of Cardiology, European Resiratory Society and European Reference Netwok . The Centre offers full set of diagnostic procedures as well as comprehensive medical and interventional treatment of pulmonary arterial (PAH) and thromboembolic (CTEPH) pulmonary hypertension. ECZ-Otwock routinely follows over 400 patients with formal diagnosis of PAH and CTEPH. Continuous prostacyclin infusion is provided to patients subcutaneously or intravenously via Hickman catheters or fully implantable pumps, as needed. During multidisciplinary CTEPH-Team meetings patients are qualified to either surgical pulmonary endarterectomy (PEA), interventional balloon angioplasty (BPA) and medical therapy with riociguat as well as to multimodality treatment. ECZ-Otwock introduced BPA program as the second European Centre already in 2013 gathering unique experience, with over 900 procedures performed in 182 Polish and cross border patients. The PH team closely collaborates with Polish (https://www.phapolska.org) and European Pulmonary Hypertension Associations in educational and awareness activities. Clinical and translational research as well as national and international collaboration results in significant publication record in the field of pulmonary circulation evidenced by high citation indices and international recognition of its team members.
